I am a new patient, how do I arrange an initial appointment?
New patients can book in for initial appointments by contacting the clinic via phone 1800 867 090 or email info@ttpsych.com.au

Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan referral before booking an appointment?
No, patients do not require a Mental Health Care Plan to book an appointment.
My child is the patient, do I need to have a parent session first?
Yes, all patients under the age of 18 require an initial parent appointment before the initial child/teen appointment. Please note, the child does not attend the parent session.
What happens in the initial parent session?
In this session a comprehensive developmental history will be discussed and parents can talk in an open and confidential space about their child and the challenges that they are experiences.
How long are the appointments?
Each appointment is 50 minutes in length.
How many appointments should I book in for?
For maximum therapeutic benefits we highly recommend that new patients book in 6 weekly to fortnightly appointments after the initial appointment.
The therapist and patient will discuss in the initial session a plan for future appointments.
How many sessions will I need in total?
The length of therapy will differ for each patient. If they have been dealing with a range of difficulties for an extended period, they may take longer to resolve. We will assess and evaluate progress periodically.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes, we have a 48 hour business day cancellation policy. If patients cancel within this timeframe there will be a cancellation fee. Please note cancellation and non-attendance fees are not claimable.
Can I use private health insurance?
Rebates may be available for certain assessment sessions for patients with psychology coverage. Please contact us for more details.
Current Patient FAQs
Does my therapist hold the same appointment time for me?
No, we don’t hold appointment times for patients. Patients need to book in future appointments to confirm that time. This can be done via contacting the clinic or online.
What happens if I need to see my therapist urgently but they are fully booked?
We have a waitlist for each therapist that patients can be added to. Please note that we are not a crisis centre and therefore encourage you to appointment with your GP if you need to access urgent support. You can access a list of crisis and support numbers here.
I want to send my therapist an email or letter, how do I do this?
All correspondence for therapists can be sent to our clinic email info@ttpsych.com.au all emails are confidential and will be passed onto your therapist as soon as possible.
How do I know when I need a Mental Health Care Plan Review?
We endeavour to update you as soon as you require a MHCP Review, which is done via email. We also ask for you to keep note so it does not come as a surprise when you require a review.
Currently patients need a review after the initial 6 sessions, subsequent 4 sessions and subsequent 10 sessions.
Does my Mental Health Care Plan expire?
MHCPs do not expire, but you can only use a total of 10 sessions per calendar year to claim through Medicare.
