Sensory Profiling Assessment Elsternwick
We are pleased to welcome Nicole Smolyar, an experienced Occupational Therapist at TT Psychology who specialises in sensory profiling assessments.
What is Sensory Profiling?
An occupational therapy sensory profile helps to understand a person’s unique sensory preferences and how these impact their daily functioning. It also provides practical, individualised strategies to better manage sensory input. This may include sensitivities or differences related to sound, touch, movement, visual environments, taste and smell, as well as body awareness and coordination. While everyone processes sensory information differently, for some individuals these differences can significantly affect emotional regulation, attention, behaviour, and participation in school, work, and social settings.

Why Consider a Sensory Assessment?
- Feeling overwhelmed in busy or noisy environments
- Strong reactions to textures, sounds, or touch
- Difficulties with attention, focus, or transitions
- Emotional regulation challenges
- Avoidance of certain activities or settings
- Sensory-seeking behaviours such as constant movement or touching
Sensory differences are commonly seen alongside Autism, ADHD, anxiety, and emotional regulation difficulties, but can also occur independently.
Gaining a clear understanding of sensory preferences can reduce frustration, build insight, and provide practical strategies that make everyday life feel more manageable.
