Romi Kupfer

Registered Art Therapist and Counsellor

About

Romi Kupfer is a creative arts therapist and counsellor with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and young adults in artistic settings. Romi is passionate about connecting with young people with diverse backgrounds and abilities. She is particularly driven by supporting young people during difficult periods and transitional stages in their lives. 


Romi is dedicated to supporting young people in finding their voice and holding agency for themselves through the creative arts. She recognises the power creative arts has in fostering, connecting and supporting young people and feels privileged to be able to provide this support to individuals and groups. 


Romi has completed her youth mental health first aid training, has written for the Arts Wellbeing Collective magazine, a mental health initiative run by Arts Centre Melbourne and has volunteered in the wards at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Romi is a graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts and has facilitated workshops with professional theatre companies alongside working in community settings and in schools across both primary and secondary, in mainstream and flexible learning environments. 


Romi's specialises in using different art forms to support the creative expression of her patients. These include but are not limited to: writing, drawing, painting, crafting, movement, dance, song, and drama. As a counsellor Romi uses an integrative approach across multiple therapeutic modalities including: mindfulness, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and internal family systems (IFS). 


She aims to use her extensive experience in the creative arts and arts facilitation, to support her patients to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Master of Therapeutic Arts Practice

Graduate Diploma of Counselling

Master of Directing for Performance

Bachelor of Performing Arts (Honours)

Memberships

Professional Member - Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA)

Professional Member, Level 1 - Australian Counselling Association (ACA)

Patients

Romi sees children, adolescents, young adults and parents.  

Hours

Romi consults the following hours:

Fridays 1.30pm - 5.30pm

Saturdays 9am - 6pm

Sundays (monthly) 9am - 1.30pm 


Romi also facilitates social groups on Monday afternoons
