Tamlyn Tunley

Registered Psychologist

About

Tamlyn is an experienced psychologist who has worked locally as well as internationally. She has worked for the past 10 years within the field of psychology across psychometrics, corporate human services and within clinical settings. Tamlyn is  calm, passionate, and emotionally mature and is also adept at understanding and managing the wide range of challenges young children, adolescence, parents and adults might face within the everyday mental health challenges and lifespan development.

In her therapeutic approach, Tamlyn is committed to adopting a holistic, warm, and empathetic approach, ensuring a secure environment where patients can freely explore their primary concerns, while supporting  patients in developing practical skills to enhance their overall well-being. She deeply values the collaborative nature of therapy and relishes working closely with parents to optimise outcomes for their children. Tamlyn also supports parents, helping them navigate these challenges through emotion coaching training and facilitating balanced interactions with teachers. Tamlyn also has a keen interest in working with adults to help navigate the multiple factors and challenges that life provides us. Overall, patients would experience Tamlyn as having a strong sense of connectedness as she has a natural intuitive way of managing complex and sensitive issues.

Tamlyn’s intervention toolbox is diverse, and her work is supported by evidence-based strategies and techniques drawing from multiple therapeutic frameworks. Therapeutic modalities used are inclusive of person-centred, strengths-based approach while incorporating evidence-based therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strategies derived from play-based therapy. She also employs Mindfulness techniques, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Nature-based walking therapy, solution-focused therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Furthermore, she systematically approaches her work with families, understanding that family dynamics significantly influence individual behaviours and well-being. She is trained as a single-session family consultant, enabling her to offer up to three short-term family sessions to address specific family struggles through a solution-focused methodology. Additionally, Tamlyn brings a wealth of experience in dealing with neurodiversity. She is also adept at supporting children from divorced families, helping them navigate the complexities of such significant life changes. Her broad expertise allows her to provide comprehensive support tailored to each family’s unique needs.

Finally, should you get the opportunity to collaborate with her, you will find yourself being supported by a dedicated and well-rounded professional who will offer guidance with personal growth and development all of which in its own would be seen as an enriching experience.
