Art Therapy Elwood

Exploring Emotional Wellbeing Through Creativity

Art therapy at TT Psychology offers a nurturing, gentle approach for patients of all ages to explore their emotions and build coping tools through creative expression. Rather than depending entirely on words, art therapy Elwood provides a safe, engaging, and sensory-friendly space where thoughts and feelings may be explored at a pace that feels comfortable.

Sessions are led by Romi Kupfer, our qualified Art Therapist and Counsellor, who thoughtfully combines creative modalities with therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and personal growth. Regardless of your artistic ability, this is a welcoming, safe space to explore and create freely and without fear.

Who May Benefit From Art Therapy?

Art therapy is open to people of all ages and skill levels, offering a gentle, interactive approach that many individuals may find both accessible and beneficial.

May benefit from sensory-safe or play-based approaches

Want a gentle, non-pressured way to explore emotions

Respond well to movement, colour, imagination, and tactile activities

Need a supportive way to build emotional vocabulary or self-awareness

This approach may be especially supportive for children and teenagers who thrive with structure, creativity, and warmth, as well as adults seeking a fresh, expressive pathway to healing and self-understanding.

An Introduction to Art Therapy

Art therapy is typically welcoming to everyone; children, adolescents, young adults, and adults alike may all find value in therapeutic creative expression. There is no need to be artistic or have any prior experience, as each session is personalised to suit your comfort level and goals.

Art therapy sessions usually run for 50 or 80 minutes and may involve creative activities, supported reflection, and gentle therapeutic conversations where appropriate. We offer both individual and group sessions to ensure that all participants are comfortable.

Unless your clinician has advised otherwise, there is no need to bring anything to your session. All art materials are included as part of our fees. We do recommend wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. We stock an extensive range of arts and crafts materials, including beads, stickers, stencils, collage materials, paint, clay, sand tray, figurines, drawing supplies, pencils, crayons, textas, sewing materials, and more!

Romi works in partnership with you (or with parents/carers for our younger patients) to identify clear, supportive goals based on your unique needs, interests, and preferred way of working. These goals are reviewed and may be adapted throughout the course of your therapy as required.

Full details regarding fees, rebates, and payment options are available on our Fees page. NDIS rebates are available for eligible participants, and no referral is necessary. Our team will ensure you have a clear understanding of your options before your first session.

Art therapy differs from traditional talk therapy in that it provides a creative avenue for people to express emotions and thoughts through visual, tactile, and creative mediums, rather than relying solely on verbal communication. This approach is thought to be particularly supportive for those who find it challenging to articulate their experiences verbally, such as children or individuals working through trauma.

We welcome patients from all areas of Melbourne, including Caulfield, St Kilda, Balaclava, Ripponlea, Elwood, Armadale, Prahran, Brighton, Gardenvale, Ormond, Glen Huntly, Malvern, Windsor, Bentleigh, Mckinnon, Carnegie, Hampton and more suburbs.
