A Creative Path to Emotional Wellbeing
Art therapy at TT Psychology offers a nurturing, gentle approach for patients of all ages to explore their emotions and build coping tools through creative expression. Rather than depending entirely on words, art therapy Windsor provides a safe, engaging, and sensory-friendly space where thoughts and feelings may be explored at a pace that feels comfortable.
Each session is facilitated by Romi Kupfer, our qualified Art Therapist and Counsellor, who draws on a blend of creative modalities and therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and personal growth. Whatever your artistic ability, this is a safe, supportive space to explore, create, and express yourself freely and without pressure.
Who Might Benefit From Art Therapy?
Art therapy welcomes people of all ages and abilities, offering a relaxed, interactive approach with no skill restrictions or prior experience required.
Art therapy may be helpful for people in Windsor who:
Prefer creative or hands-on expression
Find talk-based therapy overwhelming or challenging
May benefit from sensory-safe or play-based approaches
Want a gentle, non-pressured way to explore emotions
Respond well to movement, colour, imagination, and tactile activities
Need a supportive way to build emotional vocabulary or self-awareness
This approach may be particularly supportive for children and teenagers who do well with structure, creativity, and warmth, as well as adults looking for an engaging, expressive pathway towards self-discovery and emotional growth.
What Takes Place in Art Therapy?
Windsor Art therapy sessions can involve:

The Role of Art Therapy in Emotional Wellbeing
Art therapy offers a distinctive, accessible way to explore emotions, experiences, and identities through creative expression rather than conversation alone. For many children, teens, and adults, engaging with art may feel safer and more natural, particularly when thoughts and feelings are difficult to put into words.
This process may help to:
- Foster emotional awareness by exploring thoughts and feelings through creative expression
- Develop practical coping strategies that support regulation and emotional resilience
- Support sensory needs through hands-on, calming, or structured activities
- Build confidence and encourage self-expression
- Process difficult or traumatic experiences at a pace that feels safe and supported
- Nurture a sense of identity, particularly for LGBTIQA+ young people or anyone navigating meaningful life transitions
- Offer a safe, non-judgmental environment

Understanding Art Therapy
Who is art therapy appropriate for?
Art therapy is generally appropriate for people of all ages; children, adolescents, young adults, and adults may all benefit from engaging in therapeutic creative expression. No artistic background or prior experience is required, as every session is tailored to your unique comfort level and goals.
What does a typical art therapy session involve?
Art therapy sessions generally run for 50 or 80 minutes and may incorporate creative activities, supported reflection, and gentle therapeutic conversations where appropriate. We provide both individual and group session options to ensure every participant feels comfortable and supported.
Do I need to bring anything to my art therapy session?
Unless otherwise advised by your clinician, you won’t need to bring anything along to your session. All art materials are provided as part of our fees. We do, however, suggest wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Our clinic has an extensive range of arts and crafts materials available, including beads, stickers, stencils, collage materials, paint, clay, sand tray, figurines, drawing supplies, pencils, crayons, textas, sewing materials, and more!
How are goals set for art therapy?
Romi collaborates with you (or with parents/carers for our younger patients) to develop clear, supportive goals that are grounded in your needs, interests, and preferred way of working. These goals are flexible and may be adjusted over the course of your therapy as circumstances change.
Are any rebates available for art therapy?
Full details regarding fees, rebates, and payment options are available on our Fees page. NDIS rebates are available for eligible participants, and no referral is necessary. Our team will ensure you have a clear understanding of your options before your first session.
How does art therapy differ from traditional therapy?
Unlike traditional talk therapy, art therapy allows people to express emotions and thoughts through visual, tactile, and creative mediums. It’s thought to be particularly helpful for those who find it difficult to articulate their experiences verbally (such as children or those processing trauma).
Our Art Therapy Booking Process
Make a Booking
Get in touch online or by phone, and our team will help organise your initial parent appointment at a time that is convenient.
Initial Parent Session
For children and teenagers, the process commences with a parent-only session in which we discuss the child's background, interests, strengths, and current challenges to help shape a personalised art therapy approach.
Initial Patient Session
The first art therapy session is dedicated to helping the child feel comfortable and settled in the creative space. Activities are kept gentle and exploratory, and a parent may be asked to participate in part of the session if this helps to support the child's confidence and sense of security.
Ongoing Sessions
Your art therapist will then suggest a plan for ongoing sessions, outlining goals, session frequency, and any additional supports that may assist the child in expressing, processing, and developing through creative work.
