A Creative Path to Emotional Wellbeing
Art therapy at TT Psychology offers a gentle, supportive way for patients of all ages to explore emotions and develop coping tools through creative expression. Rather than relying solely on words, art therapy Brighton provides a safe, playful, and sensory-friendly environment where thoughts and feelings may be processed at a comfortable pace.
Romi Kupfer, our qualified Art Therapist and Counsellor, facilitates each session by weaving together creative modalities and therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and personal growth. No artistic experience is needed, this is a warm, safe space where everyone is encouraged to explore and create with joy and without judgement.
Who May Benefit From Art Therapy?
Art therapy welcomes people of all ages and abilities, offering a relaxed, interactive approach with no skill restrictions or prior experience required.
Art therapy may be well-suited to people in Brighton who:

May benefit from sensory-safe or play-based approaches
Want a gentle, non-pressured way to explore emotions
Respond well to movement, colour, imagination, and tactile activities
Need a supportive way to build emotional vocabulary or self-awareness
This approach may be particularly supportive for children and teenagers who do well with structure, creativity, and warmth, as well as adults looking for an engaging, expressive pathway towards self-discovery and emotional growth.

Understanding Art Therapy
Who is art therapy designed for?
Art therapy is typically suitable for everyone; children, adolescents, young adults, and adults alike may all benefit from therapeutic creative expression. You don’t need to be artistic or have any experience, as all sessions are tailored to your comfort level and goals.
What happens during an art therapy session?
Art therapy sessions are usually 50 or 80 minutes in duration and may include a range of creative activities, supported reflection, and gentle therapeutic conversations where appropriate. Both individual and group sessions are offered to ensure that all participants feel comfortable throughout the process.
Do I need to bring anything to my art therapy session?
Unless your clinician has suggested otherwise, you won’t need to bring anything to your session. All art materials are provided as part of our fees. We do, however, recommend wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We have an extensive range of arts and crafts materials, including beads, stickers, stencils, collage materials, paint, clay, sand tray, figurines, drawing supplies, pencils, crayons, textas, sewing materials, and more!
How are goals determined for art therapy?
Romi works in partnership with you (or with parents/carers for our younger patients) to identify clear, supportive goals based on your unique needs, interests, and preferred way of working. These goals are reviewed and may be adapted throughout the course of your therapy as required.
Are rebates or funding options available?
Comprehensive information about fees, rebates, and payment options is available on our Fees page. NDIS rebates are available for eligible participants with no referral required. Our team will walk you through your options to ensure you feel informed and prepared before your first session.
What makes art therapy different from traditional therapy?
Unlike traditional talk therapy, art therapy allows people to express emotions and thoughts through visual, tactile, and creative mediums. It’s thought to be particularly helpful for those who find it difficult to articulate their experiences verbally (such as children or those processing trauma).
Our Art Therapy Booking Process
Make a Booking
Get in touch with us online or by phone, and our team will be happy to help schedule your initial parent appointment at a mutually convenient time.
Initial Parent Session
For children and teens, the journey begins with a dedicated parent-only session where we take the time to discuss the child's background, interests, strengths, and current challenges in order to guide the art therapy approach.
Initial Patient Session
The initial art therapy session is centred on helping the child feel at ease within the creative space. Activities are gentle and exploratory in nature, and a parent may be invited to join for part of the session if it helps to support the child's confidence.
Ongoing Sessions
Following the initial sessions, your art therapist will recommend a plan for ongoing sessions, detailing goals, session frequency, and any additional supports that may help the child express themselves, process experiences, and grow through creative work.
