ADHD Assessment
Supporting Wellbeing With Comprehensive ADHD Assessments
An Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment in Melbourne can help provide greater clarity around challenges with attention, focus and self-regulation. Whether the assessment is for you, your child or your teenager, our psychologists near Carnegie take a compassionate, neuro-affirming and individualised approach throughout the process.
ADHD is commonly described in inattentive, hyperactive/impulsive or combined presentations. This means challenges may relate more to focus and organisation, movement and impulsivity, or a mix of both.
What Does an ADHD Assessment Include?
Our ADHD assessments for Carnegie residents follow a structured and personalised process to help build a detailed picture of your experiences and support appropriate recommendations. This includes:
Multiple Assessment Appointments
Using more than one appointment allows us to gather a broader picture of the individual’s symptoms and circumstances.
Detailed Questionnaires
Questionnaires are completed by the individual and, where appropriate, by parents and teachers to provide insight into behaviours and experiences across different settings.
Professional Report Writing
Following the assessment, a comprehensive report summarises the findings and provides clear recommendations for ongoing support.

Tools Utilised in an ADHD Assessment
- WISC-V / WPPSI-IV: Cognitive assessment tools can help provide insight into areas such as memory and processing speed for children aged 2+ through to adulthood.
- BASC-3: This behavioural assessment gathers information about emotional and behavioural patterns from the perspectives of the individual, parents and teachers.
- ACE / ACE+: This semi-structured interview supports ADHD evaluation, with ACE used for children and ACE+ for adults.
- Conners 3: This set of rating scales assesses ADHD symptoms in young people aged 6–18 using parent, teacher and self-assessment versions.
